Siblings

Hannah and her cousin Connor on Thanksgiving

Jackson age 2 months (taken at Thanksgiving)

Well it is no secret that age three is a challenge. Hannah has been quite a handful the last few months. I don't know where my sweet girl goes most of the time but she has decided to take a leave of absence most days.
The other day her teacher told me she was put in "yellow timeout", what ever that is... She was not sitting on the rug singing in music. She had decided to chase another little boy around the room the whole time. I asked her why she did this and she told me she had too much energy and just could not sit still so she had to run.
She is pretty good with Jackson and I try to give her plenty of extra attention these days.
She has had some interesting stories lately. She was telling me the other day about Heaven.

Hannah: Mommy, I know my great grandparents.
Me: You do? How did you meet them?
Hannah: Well, they were my babysitters in Heaven. They babysat me and Jackson for a while, then they had to leave, but they came back, then I had to leave.
They were watching Jackson while I came down here, but now he is here too. I will see them again when I go back to Heaven. I think they can see me down here.
Me: I bet they can, and I bet you make them smile.

Kids say amazing things sometimes.

Halloween

This year Hannah wanted to be a " Rootin Tootin Cowgirl" . Those were her words not mine.
She played the part well. She rode her stick horse from house to house. She would wait until the sidewalk was clear and would run up to the house with her horse "bucking". Then she would take off her hat and say " Whoa horse! Howdy, trick or treat." People were not sure what to think, most of them laughed pretty hard though. We had to cut the night short because she got a stomach ache from eating cookie dough earlier in the day with her grandad.
Jackson went as a horse and I wore my boots to try and go with the theme.

It's a BOY!!

Ok, so I know he is almost a month old now, but hey at least I'm posting something.

Jackson McGee Miller arrived Saturday, September 19, 2009 at 12:33 pm. He weighed 7 lbs 11.6 oz. and was 19 3/4" long.

There are some fun things with numbers in our family. My birthday is December 15th, Hannah's is March 16th, Our anniversary is June 17th, Clint's birthday is January 18th, and Jackson came on the 19th. Hannah was delivered at 12:33 am, and Jackson was delivered at 12:33 pm. He was not due until September 27th, so it has been fun to see it all fall in line.

Hannah has adjusted pretty well to having a brother. The whole breast feeding thing has her attention right now. She made the observation the other night that she drinks cow milk out of a glass, and "Jackson drinks girl milk out of those puffy things." I tried not to smile or laugh hoping to just blow it off and not revisit this conversation in public. So far so good...

Hannah's first day of school

Hannah started preschool today at GEM Express. I chose this school because the church is smaller and they really try to incorporate the Bible into their lessons. There are 12 kids in her class, so it is a good size. She was so excited to start school. It will be nice for her to be around other kids during the week.

Her favorite part of today was singing the B-I-B-L-E and playing in the sand. She learned two words in Spanish and got to play with a doll house at center time. So far that is all I have gotten out of her. I will have to update if any interesting stories come up later in the month.

I surprised myself and did not cry or tear up. I think I am just excited that she will be with kids her own age. It is hard living in an apartment and going to such a big church. It has been difficult to meet families with kids her age. I hope she makes some great friends this year.
The pictures loaded out of order, but I am too tired to figure out how to fix it...

Latest sewing projects

I have not had much to tell the last few weeks. We are just trying to get things in order before baby arrives. My sewing machine is still in storage, but my mom's is out and ready to use, so I borrowed it.

I had visions of how I thought preschool would be so I made Hannah a nap-mat cover. That sounded more comfortable than just a vinyl nap mat. I found some patterns on line, but they make it more complicated than it should be so I made up my own. Not much cutting and not much sewing, it was very easy. To my disappointment they don't use mat covers at her school. They said I could send it, but Hannah would have to figure out how to put it on and take it off by herself so they could send it home everyday to be washed. I decided to just hang on to it and let her play with it here at home. It may come in handy for travel one day.

My second project was a nursing cover. It looks like a funny apron, but it will do the job. I chose a green toil so the color would be gender neutral. I have seen one in use and it seemed like a cool idea. I was not going to pay $40- $50 for a rectangle of fabric with a strap, so I made my own. It has boning in the top so I can see what is going on with out having to move any fabric. I will post pics later when I am using it.

Always drain the tub when you finish

I was going through pictures the other day and came across this little gem. Hannah was two at the time. The video was taken at our apartment in Dallas. I had just given her a bath and put her jammies on. I went to the kitchen to get her a drink and when I came back she was not in her room. She had gotten back in the tub. Fun times. The video is not the best because we took it with our camera, but it is kind of funny.

Shiny Bathroom

There are some days when I want to get up in the morning and start from scratch. Today was one of those days. I decided I was in need of a mental break so I was trying to get things together to go to Durant. It is nice to see the grandparents and let Hannah run around outside every once in a while.
Hannah was washing her hands in my bathroom this morning and I ran to put some clothes in the washer. Duh, a three year old and water left unattended don't mix. I thought well, the worst she will do is play in the bubbles and splash a little water. I will be right back. In the min. 30 seconds that I was gone she discovered a new trick with the sink. She was sitting on the counter with her hand cupped under the faucet shooting water across the bathroom. My bedroom carpet was soaked at least three feet out from the bathroom. I must say she is clever, but it was not the time or place to discover this new trick. Five towels and a few hand towels later my bathroom is dust free and sparkling. Not exactly the way I would have chosen to clean it but now it is done.

Mimi can't cook, or can she?

A few weeks ago I went to spend the night with my mom while my dad was out of town. Hannah and my dad love to cook when we go visit. She loves to taste every ingredient no matter what it is. They love to make pancakes, waffles, and biscuits together. She will get up early and wake him up if necessary to go start cooking. On this particular morning since my dad was not there she decided that I better get up early and see what we could have for breakfast. My mom got up and met us in the kitchen. Hannah had quite a serious look on her face and said " Mimi, what are we going to do about breakfast? Grandad is not here and you can't cook." My mom started laughing and tried to explain that she could cook but that she did not do it very often. She convinced Hannah that Mimi knew how to make pancakes too. Hannah was quite surprised at this revelation and said so throughout out the morning.

Life update as promised

Our current lease in Allen is not up until Oct 31st and the baby is due Sept 27th. That being said, we will be moving sometime in the next few months, we just are not sure where yet.
After much thought and prayer Clint has decided to go back to undergrad to pick up three classes. He will be attending SOSU in the fall. He needs these three classes to get into either dental school or medical school. He is still praying about which direction he should go, but is leaning towards dental school. I am all for him getting on with it. He has talked about this for years and is finally putting it into action. We are toying with the idea of moving to Dennison, TX in order to maintain TX residency. There are 3 dental schools in TX verses 1 in OK. He is thinking of giving his notice at work this week so his boss has plenty of time to find a replacement. I will keep you posted as we see how things unfold.

In other news:
I went to the doctor today and Hannah said she had a brother in her tummy that she was going to name Frogo. No, we have no idea if it is going to be a brother or sister...

Clint still has not told his sister that I am pregnant, so I am having fun with it. We went to his cousin's graduation this weekend and his mom, sister, and aunt started the usuall greeting of " Oh you look so good, have you lost weight?!" I stood up in the midst of it all and rubbed my belly and said " I think I have put on a few, anyone want a hotdog?" Then I left and went to the kitchen before I started laughting.

so much in a name

Little did I know when I named my blog that the meaning would hold so true yet again. When I am able to provide more details I will, but for now just know big changes are coming again.

In other news, we are back from our cruise. We also all have a cold so there has been a lot of coughing at our house. Hannah asked me yesterday if we could go on another cruise this Saturday.... I said " Ask your dad "

Sneaky, really??

I am in the middle of trying to pack for our upcoming cruise, so I guess I am not doing a very good job at watching my child today. I put on a cartoon as usual so I could take a quick shower. Everything seemed normal while I was getting dressed, or so I thought. I heard the refrigerator door open and close, then I heard little feet running. I called to Hannah to see what in the world she was running with. Of course I was answered with silence. I put a shirt on and went to find her. She was in the middle of trying to hide a carton of eggs. I said, " What are you doing with eggs in your room?" she replied "I want to eat them, but the colors are all gone." I had to think for a second before I figured out what she was talking about.
Let me take you back to Easter....
We died eggs for the first time this year and she had a great time doing that. Mom sent us home with the hard boiled eggs because Clint is the only person we know that likes them. When we got home Clint showed her that you could actually eat the eggs we died and let her try one. To my surprise she loved it! Yuck, I think I would be hard pressed to eat one on a double dog dare.
Every morning since Easter she has asked for an egg with her breakfast. Fine by me, I don't want them. She has had fun picking which color to eat for the day. The eggs are gone now, but it looks like I will have to make some more. I hope she likes white ones.

The Sky is Falling

A few nights ago I was jolted out of bed by a horrible sound. I thought the entire contents of Hannah's closet was falling to the floor. It was so loud! I jumped up and ran into her room. She was sitting up in bed with her hands over her ears and crying " What is that?" The cats were bolting out of her room and scrambling for cover. I looked around and everything seemed normal, except for the Mylar balloon that was on the ceiling in the corner of the room. It had somehow drifted toward the ceiling fan during the night and received a terrible beating. Once I realized what had happened I could not stop laughing. Hannah calmed down once I explained everything. ( Note to self: Mylar balloons and fans don't mix) The cats would not go in her room for over a week. The balloon is still alive and well, but now resides in the closet.
